My Superhero
I was always being asked, "Where is your Daddy?"
My reply will always be "He is working already"
And then I asked mommy, Where is Daddy?
She will always say "He's working for you Baby"
Thank you Daddy, For working so hard.
Thank you for giving us a good life.
Thank you will never be enough
For all the sacrifices that you have done for us.
Mommy told me you miss us so much
And wanted to come home, but simply cannot
I always wanted to play and feel your touch
But don't worry Daddy I understand.
Leaving your loved one is the hardest part
Of someone working far from your native land
Working always day and night
To make sure you give the best to the people left behind
That's my Daddy. He doesn't fly.
He doesn't have superpowers like Superman
But one thing he has that I am so proud
His unselfish love for me and my mom.
You are my superhero, you will always be
Someday, together we will be
And I will tell the people proudly
This is my Super Daddy!
I made this poem for my Son. He is 4 months old now. I hope someday he can recite this in front of people and show how proud he is on his dad.

Boyfriend Girlfriend Stage
Boyfriend Girlfriend Stage
I was a late bloomer. I had my first boyfriend at the age of 21. ( Oh crap. Sorry, I just based it on a typical Millennials today- 12 year old with girlfriend/boyfriend). I was the "not so pretty, MORENA (Spanish word commonly used by Filipinos as Brown skinned / Brunette) but so MATARAY (obnoxious sarcastic, grouchy or grumpy) High School student. They say men are afraid of me (maybe because 1. I slap one guy on the face on my 2nd year out of me being crazily irritable to men 2. I argued very loud at one guy to the point of shouting in front of my Biology Teacher and eventually threw me out of the classroom 3. I threw a love letter given to me by my classmate in the trash bin without opening it in front of him 4. all of the above?). Oh Yes. I'm that bitch.
And there he was. This guy.
I met my first boyfriend way back 2007. From bitch mode to pabebe mode. We were the typical "can't separate couple". Our world revolved on each other. Graduation came, and nothing changed, though we worked on different companies, still we MAKE time for each other. HAVING TIME and MAKING TIME should always be defined differently. It is always a matter of who comes first, in our case it is obviously EACH OTHER. Our relationship was never perfect. I never believed that there is a perfect relationship. I am also not the type who believe in fairy tales and happy ever after. In fact, I like sad endings more than those typical ".... And they lived happily ever after". It is more realistic. There will always be a struggle and that can make or break the relationship. In our case, it is our differences. Yes. We are opposites to make it short. As they say, opposites do attract. What the hell? We always argue on small and big things, but at the end of the day, we make sure we talk things out. It was very hard for me to adjust, he was my first, please don't judge me. I almost gave up. I came to the point where I did not know whether it is worth the fight.
I gave up. He did not. Thank God! He fought really hard to make sure that our relationship wont go to waste. There was a time that I really believed that being alone will make me happy, but it didn't. Then I realized how blessed I was to have him in my life. Right there and then, I knew that He is the ONE.
Allow me to summarize all the learning I had on our 9 year relationship.
1. TIME is very important. MAKE TIME to make your partner feel special. You should never say you don't have time because of work.. studies.. or whatsoever. It is just not acceptable. A simple call or message letting your partner know that you remember him/her means a lot.
2. RESPECT. Misunderstandings are normal in a relationship. There can never be a REAL relationship without arguments. Even you and your parents whom you love sometimes argue on little or big things. It is because you are two different entities, have different personalities and beliefs. You can never find someone who is exactly the same as you are. You can argue but make sure both of you respect each other's opinion. RESPECT your partner's point of view not necessarily you need to change your beliefs but ACCEPT his view as you wanted him to respect yours.
3. FIGHT. I mean FIGHT for each other, not with each other. You should always be team. You should be the other's back up no matter what.
4. CHOOSE and STAY IN LOVE. Being in love is easy as pie. All you can see is how beautiful your partner is. But staying will always be the challenge. When you already can see how grumpy he is when he's tired after work, his smelly shoes, his snoring at night (just buy earplugs) and all other negative energy of your partner and you can still choose that person to be with, then you are really in love. Do not dwell on the negative side. Always think on why in the first place you feel in love with the person
5. ADJUST. It does not mean that you will change yourself so your partner can accept and love you. In a relationship, you should retain who you really are. You might want to improve yourself as a person, but do it for your self. ADJUSTMENT mean you should learn how to compromise. There should be an open communication between the two of you on what are the things that you want and need from the other. And RESPECT what the other can only give.
